Funding for vital victims’ services in Sussex welcomed

Commenting on the announcement that funding for victims’ services in Sussex has been protected for another year at more than £1.9m, Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne said: “I am really pleased that the Government has decided to sustain this important funding for victims’ services in Sussex.

“We are now entering our third year where Police & Crime Commissioners manage funding for victims’ services so I am making sure that we get as much value as possible for the money we receive through smart, relevant commissioning.

“It is vital that our victims of crime receive the support they need to help them cope with and recover from crime and my priority remains to support victims with services that are available whether a person decides to report to the police or not.

“I am committed to working in partnership with other statutory agencies, such as the local authorities as well as the police. I want to provide the best possible services to residents in Sussex, particularly those that support our most vulnerable victims, such as those who have experienced domestic and sexual violence.”
